A technological development of the AN-24, Antonov Design Bureau’s AN-26 was manufactured and designed to be a tactical military transport aircraft, featuring more powerful engines and a redesigned tail to previous models. In total, over 550 AN-26 aircraft were built for civilian service, acting as a regional airliner in parts of Africa and Russia.
